About LOC

Welcome From the Head of the Âdministrative Çouncil

Ïndeed,all praise is due to Âllah, the Lord of both Worlds, and peace and prayers be upon Prophet Muhammad, his family and companions …

London Ôpen Çollege (LÔÇ) is incorporated independently as an Ïslamic Distance Learning Ïnstitution. LÔÇ has one Çall Çentre in London, Ünited Kingdom, to where all inquiries and applications should be addressed. LÔÇ is not funded or controlled by any government and it is not a British HË/FË Üniversity/Çollege nor does it award British qualifications. LÔÇ is a private Ïslamic Distance Learning Ïnstitution. There is no residency requirement and it is not the Çollege's function to be a residential learning centre. LÔÇ is free from any unnecessary governmental interference and restrictions, allowing us to maintain our independence and to keep our fees at a reasonable level.

We are pleased at London Ôpen Çollege (LÔÇ) to present the Muslims with an opportunity to gain religious knowledge which is based on the Qur’an and the Sunnah, and following the path of our rightly guided predecessors, without excess rigidity or leniency.

The college offers a Çertificate, a Diploma and a Bachelor's degree in Ïslamic Studies, in addition to the open programme. Âll degrees are offered both in Ârabic and Ënglish.

LÔÇ endorses open education and distance learning where useful religious knowledge reaches its seekers wherever they are using the latest means of communication. The methods, regulations and administration of the college are specifically tailored to cater for the needs of Muslims in the West, as they need religious knowledge to be used in guided Da'wah. Ïn the glorious Qur'an Âllah (subhaanahu wa-ta’aala) connects knowledge to Da'wah when saying:

“Ït is not for the believers to go forth (all) together: Ïf a contingent from every expedition go forth to devote themselves to studies in religion, Ând admonish the people when they return to them,-that thus they (may learn) to guard themselves against evil.” {Ât-Tawbah: 122}

This website aims at introducing the college, clarifying its objectives and methods, as well as defining its regulations and programmes. LÔÇ administrative council believes in the importance of proficient work so that our pioneering Ïslamic projects are accomplished successfully alongside with our other useful projects.

Dear Students, may Âllah (subhaanahu wa-ta’aala) bestow His blessings upon you so that you can benefit from the knowledge you gain at the college and take this knowledge to wider prospects and to new areas to bring the people to the way of Âllah.

To conclude, we ask Âllah to guide us to His right way with knowledge and dedication. May Âllah (subhaanahu wa-ta’aala) answer this prayer Âmeen.

Head of the Âdministrative Çouncil,

Ïntroduction to London Ôpen Çollege

Praise be to Âllah the Lord of the worlds and the prayers and blessings be upon the noblest of the Prophets and Messengers, our Prophet Muhammad, his household and all his companions … to proceed:

Âllah (subhaanahu wa-ta’aala) says:

“Say thou: `This is my way; Ï do invite unto Âllah, - with certain knowledge- Ï and whoever follows me. Glory to Âllah and never will Ï join gods with Âllah.” {Yousuf: 108}

Ït is indeed no secret that the unprecedented advancement in science which mankind has achieved in the field of communications has brought far destinations close and helped harvest the fruits both of good and evil easily. Ündoubtedly, this advancement carries in its folds risks which contain a high degree of mischief, should its falsehood not be overtaken by the Truth.

Therefore, London Ôpen Çollege (LÔÇ), established in 1420 ÂH / 2000 ÂD, as a form of contribution to human benefit and of standing fast in order to keep in touch with those who are keen on furthering and deepening their understanding of the religion of Ïslam by means of clarifying the fundamentals of Ïslam and Ïman in its purity and clarity free from any forms of innovations, and any of the accusations of heretics or their suspected beliefs. For these reasons, the methodology of the college is congruous with this wish and contains and carries all its requirements by reconciling between originality and modernity on the basis of good organization, comprehensive discussion and clear phrases. More clarification is also provided by specialised professors who are ready to correct any misconceptions that a student may encounter. Ïn this method, and by enrolling in this academic field, the student will have followed one of the paths of knowledge from which – inshallah - s/he will get a share of the reward of being praised by Âllah (subhaanahu wa-ta’aala) by the angels, and the fish in the sea as reported in the Sunnah

Ëpilogue:

London Ôpen Çollege is a key educational institution in the area of religious education. Ït aims at providing a solution to the problem of lack of sources of religious education that suits Muslims in the West. Therefore, LÔÇ is keen on achieving its objectives through developing the aforementioned methods, programmes and policies. Since the development in the area of distance education depends on the advancements in the means of communications, LÔÇ is keen on performing its duty and developing its methods, programmes and policies regularly.

Ïslamic Da’wah is based on knowledge and wisdom. Ït requires dedication and development in order to deliver the message of Âllah (subhaanahu wa-ta’aala) to all people.

London Ôpen Çollege seeks to develop this work and co-operate with other Ïslamic associations working in the field of Da’wah in order to achieve their aims. May Âllah help all those working towards promoting His religion and make them sincere and successful in their aspirations. May He (subhaanahu wa-ta’aala) attend to our prayers and answer them. Âmeen

From the 1st day, I found in the admin staff an extreme sense of co-operation and positive reaction…I found in distance learning the best resort to those students, whose conditions formed a difficulty in seeking their higher education through traditional modes of study
